Model Description

No other competition Enduro offers more power than the KTM 500 EXC-F. Its high output 4-stroke engine is extremely light in weight and enhances the extraordinary agility of the perfectly tuned chassis. With its 510cc SOHC (single overhead camshaft) single-cylinder engine, the KTM 500 EXC-F achieves an unrivaled power-to-weight ratio. The engine also boasts a well thought out and compact layout, which centralizes the masses. The result is a unique powerplant with enormous power reserves and outstanding power delivery over the entire rpm range. Combined with the superb chassis, the rider can use the power available to him to the full and leave competitors literally standing.

TRANSMISSION
From the gear position sensor supporting the engine management system, to friction optimized shift forks down to the gears – the 6-speed transmission system is packed solid with state-of-the-art technology. It also features KTM's renowned No-Dirt gear shift lever design, which protects the gear unit from grime even when riding through the deepest mud ruts imaginable, thus guaranteeing smooth gear changes under the toughest conditions.

ENGINE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
The state-of-the-art Keihin engine management system with electronic fuel injection features a 42 mm throttle body combined with a specially positioned injector, resulting in a very precise response and outstanding power delivery. The rider can also select the appropriate power curve on the optionally available map select switch and also enjoys an additional benefit not available to competitors – the KTM 500 EXC-F is the only bike in its class fitted with traction control, allowing the rider to activate the system at the touch of a button for maximum grip.

ENGINE
The engine of the KTM 500 EXC-F with electronic fuel injection is the most compact and also the lightest 500 on the market. It delivers amazing torque and awesome power across a broad rpm range. The innovative SOHC cylinder head incorporates rigid rocker arms that operate the four lightweight valves. Flow-optimized ports are designed for maximum efficiency and power delivery that is second to none. The precision manufactured crankshaft with a plain big (bottom) end bearing combined with the balancer shaft reduce vibrations and make for a really smooth running engine. The state-of-the-art Keihin engine management system with electronic fuel injection and a 42 mm throttle body guarantees direct response and powerful acceleration. If needed, the rider can switch to a different power curve via the map select switch during a race and can also activate traction control for maximum grip.

CLUTCH
Fitted with Brembo hydraulics, the clutch is amazingly dependable, regardless of the operating temperature and has an excellent pressure point that never varies. The DDS (damped diaphragm steel) clutch developed by KTM has a single diaphragm spring instead of conventional coil springs. The rider thus requires less effort to operate the clutch. Another benefit is the damping system integrated directly inside the clutch hub, which improves traction and extends the life of the transmission.

E-STARTER
With the E-starter fitted as standard, KTM 500 EXC-F riders have a distinct advantage during Enduro races. All it requires is the press of a button and the KTM 500 EXC-F springs into life reliably even under the most extreme conditions thanks to KTM's proven starter drive combined with a lightweight lithium ion battery that operates an even stronger starter motor.

CYLINDER HEAD
In the cylinder head of the SOHC engine, the camshaft operates the ultralight titanium valves via rigid rocker arms that are DLC (diamond-like carbon) coated on the intake side. This solid construction makes for a high revving engine that delivers outstanding performance – the perfect prerequisite for winning in Enduro race events.

SIXDAYS
Offroad racing is really at the core of KTM and the recognizable KTM EXC SIX DAYS models are a real center point of our Enduro line-up. This year's International Six Days Enduro event will be held in Chile and the KTM SIX DAYS models receive a special graphics kit to represent this, along with an impressive package of well-thought out READY TO RACE upgrades for those who want a bike that's as close to factory as you can get.
